My Final Post for PIDP 3240

This is my final post fro my 3240 course, and what a course it has been! I definitely learned lots, more than I thought I would, but it wasn’t a walk in the park. I chose the social media option, and well it was informative, I found it to be very time consuming. I guess that’s to be expected of any on line course, this was my first. I now can say that I’m on Twitter and I have this blog, which I’m impressed that I was able to create. I feel more informed about social media and have a much better understanding of the ins and outs of some of it now, which is really important as I have a twelve year old daughter who I will need to keep up with. 🙂

Stay tuned for more posts, I will be starting a new link for my PIDP 3100 class! Thanks for checking out my blog!

Replacing professors with computers?

Contrary to my last post about University students wanting more engaging lectures and LESS technology, this article posted by CNN, stated by Bill Gates, suggests in the future, we should replace the professors with online learning and get the students face to face for labs and study groups.
I’m not sure I agree with this. I believe not everyone learns the same way and instructors have to work to engage the students, but they are still needed!
What do you think?

Students can feel overwhelmed

Found this interesting article that was based on a survey done in 2012, where the findings were that University students would rather learn by a really good, interactive, engaging lecture than by learning with lots of technology.

It’s really quite interesting. As adults, how would you prefer to learn?
